Highlands was absolutely delighted that Toyota chose them as the venue to celebrate the Toyota Festival in 2016. Below is an overview of the 2016 Event.

Highlands is a destination for all things automotive and we intend to utilise it all as well as the surrounding landscape. The Toyota Festival celebrates the incredible Kiwi history of New Zealand’s best-selling car manufacturer and features a fascinating array of Toyota models from the earliest to the latest.


When: Friday 18 March 2016
Where: Highlands National Motorsport Museum 1 Sandflat Rd Cromwell

This is a wonderful opportunity to visit the National Motorsport Museum at Highlands and enjoy an evening with Toyota Ambassadors and celebrities. Your entry ticket includes a drink upon arrival and finger food throughout the night, and a cash bar will be available to replenish your drinks. There will be giveaways and spot prizes to be won with some very cool prizes including Highlands Supercar Fast Dash rides, Highlands Taxi voucher and other great items. Enjoy a presentation of the history of Toyota and the chance to talk all things Toyota throughout the evening.

Where: Highlands Motorsport Park 1 Sandflat Rd Cromwell
Sessions: 4 x 15 min – Full GT Circuit

An incredible opportunity to participate in the Toyota Festival in the best way possible – driving the best race circuit in New Zealand, which is unquestionably the favourite of many who race and visit Highlands Motorsport Park.

The day will comprise of four 15-minute track sessions around the full GT Circuit at Highlands, a challenging 4kms of undulating, tight and flowing track.

During the day there will be classroom sessions held by our resident professional driver Andrew Waite who will take you through the lines and correct way of trying to harness Highlands and achieve a flowing lap.


The Toyota Show and Shine is not limited to just road cars; we want the best of them all to be on display. Whether your Toyota is a 4WD, a hatchback, wagon or SUV, they are all eligible for a place in the winners of this event. Judging will commence at 9.00am and the winners announced at 2.00pm.


Want to be involved in the Toyota Festival? You’re very welcome to bring your Toyota along on the day and be into win spot prizes!


The Highlands Off-Road Track will be open on Saturday of the Toyota Festival and gives you a chance to have a go on the course and test your vehicle and skills. This is a medium skill level course so come along and give it a go. We will have a local 4x4 club on hand to offer advice and tips.

There will also be a display of old and new Toyota 4WD models, so if you have an FJ, Hilux or any other Toyota 4WD, bring it along and join in the display.

The Toyota Festival is all about meeting and greeting fellow owners. We want to see Toyotas of all shapes and sizes, old, new, modified – lots and lots of Toyotas!

Where: Highlands Motorsport Park – start point 1 Sandflat Rd Cromwell, 9310

This 4x4 adventure will see you explore some of Central Otago’s landscape and discover the breath taking views. This is a medium level experience tailored for you to enjoy your time amongst the rocks and hilltops. The lead Hilux and other vehicles among the group are there to assist everyone enjoy the adventure safely. The duration of this trip is around 4 hours with a stop mid-way for some refreshments.

Registration is essential as there is a maximum number of participating vehicles. Take this opportunity to enjoy what Central Otago has become famous for and be a part of the Toyota 4x4 Adventure Day.
